Urban mobility truly evolves when it becomes simple, accessible and tailored to people’s everyday needs. This is the idea behind Pikyrent’s new project in Segrate: a station-based electric car-sharing service designed to offer residents, commuters and visitors a practical, more sustainable alternative to private car ownership, while promoting a more organised use of urban space.
In partnership with the City of Segrate, Pikyrent is introducing Fiat Topolino electric microcars to the area. Agile, compact and perfectly suited to urban and short-distance travel, these vehicles represent another step forward in the development of shared mobility.
The initiative brings a new mobility model to the Milan metropolitan area, designed to complement local public transport and provide convenient connections to the city’s main destinations and points of interest.
A Service Designed to Make Everyday Travel Easier
Launched as a sustainable mobility pilot project, the initiative initially includes four dedicated hubs, strategically located across Segrate.
At these hubs, users can find, pick up and return Fiat Topolino vehicles, supporting more efficient fleet management and a more organised use of public space.
The station-based model makes the service straightforward and convenient: users simply select a vehicle through the Pikyrent app, head to the nearest hub, start their rental and drive away.
At the end of the rental, the microcar must be returned to one of the designated Pikyrent hubs in Segrate.
During the rental, however, users are free to travel both within Segrate and beyond the operating area, including Milan.
If needed, they can activate the “Parking” feature to temporarily park the vehicle and resume their journey later.
Four Hubs to Better Connect the City
The four hubs selected for the pilot project have been strategically positioned to facilitate connections to railway stations, transport interchanges, residential neighbourhoods and business areas.
The service will be available at the following locations:
- Segrate Town Hall Hub – Via I Maggio 12
- Segrate Railway Station Hub – Via Caravaggio
- Novegro di Segrate – Linate Hub – Via Francesco Baracca
- San Raffaele Hospital Hub – Via Fratelli Cervi 1
Through this network, Pikyrent aims to provide a practical solution for short- and medium-distance journeys that often make everyday mobility more challenging.
Whether travelling to a railway station, commuting between home and work, reaching essential services, completing the last mile of a journey or simply moving around more flexibly, users can enjoy greater freedom without always relying on a private car.
Fiat Topolino: Small, Electric and Made for the City
The Fiat Topolino is a compact electric quadricycle designed to make urban travel easier and more sustainable.
Its small dimensions make it particularly agile in city traffic, while its electric powertrain helps reduce local emissions and the environmental impact of everyday journeys.
For Pikyrent, introducing this type of vehicle means expanding mobility options and offering solutions that better reflect the different needs of urban communities.
Beyond electric scooter sharing, Pikyrent now provides electric microcars for people looking for a practical, comfortable and accessible way to travel independently.
Everything Through the Pikyrent App
As with all Pikyrent services, the Fiat Topolino experience in Segrate is fully digital and managed entirely through the Pikyrent app.
After downloading the app from the App Store or Google Play and completing registration, users can view available microcars on the map, book a vehicle, reach the designated hub and start their rental directly from their smartphone.
The app provides a seamless mobility experience, managing every step of the journey: from finding and booking a vehicle to unlocking it and ending the rental.
Everything is designed to make shared mobility simple, intuitive and immediately accessible.
Another Step Towards Sustainable and Integrated Mobility
With the launch of its Segrate pilot project, Pikyrent further strengthens its presence in the Milan metropolitan area, where it already operates an electric scooter-sharing service.
The initiative also reinforces the company’s commitment to developing shared mobility solutions tailored to the specific needs of local communities.
The station-based model offers a practical approach to creating a more organised, efficient and integrated urban mobility system.
A service that does not replace public transport, but complements it. One that does not add complexity, but creates new opportunities. One that empowers people to make smarter, more sustainable travel choices every day.
Because shared mobility works best when it becomes a natural part of everyday life.
And with Fiat Topolino in Segrate, Pikyrent introduces a new way to experience local mobility: simpler, electric and closer to the city and its people.
